NABH for healthcare organizations came into the existence in the year 2005 and after quite a few initial hiccups, it has been gaining traction in India.
There are 729 NABH accredited hospitals in India (source: NABH website). According to the updated list of accredited hospitals, only 61 hospitals have been included in the NABH accredited hospitals list, during the months of March to Dec 2020.

During the pandemic crisis, the focus of healthcare institutions shifted from applying for accreditation to attending the immediate medical needs of the patients. The fresh applications for accreditation have been significantly low during this time and the accreditation process has also been moved to the virtual mode.
The Accreditation is applicable to different Healthcare institutions including Private hospitals, Public hospitals, Imaging centres wellness centres and Clinics.
Stepping into the new Normal world, many hospitals are now giving priority to applying for NABH accreditation. Majorly due to the following reasons:
- Helps in streamlining your operational processes and put you at par with the best healthcare standards.
- Focuses on patient safety and quality care, which is the right of a patient and a priority of healthcare institutions.
- Third-party insurance companies now settle the medical claims of NABH accredited healthcare institutions only. This step is to ensure the fair billing, quality treatment and safety of the patients.
- Makes a Healthcare facility eligible for empanelment with state-approved  Health schemes.
The NABH accreditation process generally takes approx. 12 months’ time with the right documentation. If you need more guidance, reach us at 9999995818/0124-4546200 or drop a line at contact@astronhealthcare.com
In addition to NABH, one can go for JCI accreditation for better revenue opportunities.
JCI accreditation is given to Healthcare facilities, globally by the Joint Commission, a US-based international accreditation organization.
